Whether you’re looking for ways to get involved with your peers, trying to expand your horizons abroad, or looking for professional development opportunities either through internships or research, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources offers a wealth of opportunities to our student body. 

Scholarships

There are numerous scholarships available for students majoring in Nutrition, Food Science or Dietetics. Scholarship opportunities exist through the Department of Nutrition and Food Science, including the Robert Facchina Scholarships. In addition, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the Institute of Food Technologists offer scholarships for students.

Information on employment and scholarships is posted through the departmental undergraduate email listserv. You are strongly encouraged to obtain an e-mail account and contact us at nfscinfo@umd.edu to be sure that your name is added to the email list for Dietetics. You may also contact your faculty advisor for more information.

Nutritional Science Scholarships

Scholarship opportunities exist through the Department of Nutrition and Food Science, including the Robert Facchina Scholarships. In addition, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the Institute of Food Technologists offer scholarships for students.

Food Science Scholarships

The Food Science major offers opportunities for scholarships and achievement awards from the department, like the Robert Facchina Scholarship, as well as from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Institute of Food Technologists, Maryland D.C. Dairy Technology, C.W. England scholarships, and the Forbes Chocolate Leadership Award.

Dietetics Scholarships

Scholarship opportunities are sometimes available through the department, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Maryland Academy of Nutrition and Dietitics, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Institute of Food Technologists.  The Undergraduate Admissions Office has more information on scholarships for freshman and transfer students.

For students looking for an internship or job, you can start with AGNR College Career Help. Also, the UMD Career Center serves as a invaluable resource to students. Or schedule a career assistance appointment to talk to a career counselor in person.

Undergraduate Listserv

Once you have chosen your area of study, and have an active email account, you can be added to the departmental undergraduate e-mail listserv for your area of study.
