Mission and Goals

The mission of the Dietetics Program at the University of Maryland is to provide students with a strong academic foundation, which emphasizes natural sciences, nutrition, foods, and foodservice administration. The curriculum is designed to prepare students with the knowledge needed by an entry-level dietitian after a supervised practice component (dietetic internship) has been completed. The mission of the Dietetics program is consistent with the mission of the Department of Nutrition and Food Science and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the overall goals of the University of Maryland.
